Abstract

This study aims to analyze the performance of cooling and air conditioning systems during the summer months in Ghat, located in southern of Libya, under extreme climatic conditions characterized by high temperatures and low humidity levels. Climate data for the summer of 2024 were collected and analyzed using Excel software, along with a questionnaire designed to measure residents’ satisfaction with the performance of air conditioning units and the effectiveness of thermal insulation. The results revealed significant temperature variations between the months, along with challenges related to system efficiency and energy consumption. The study concludes with a set of recommendations to improve cooling efficiency and reduce electricity consumption in a way that suits the desert environment of Ghat.
