This research explores the relationship between materials and cultural identity in the visual arts, through an analysis of a collection of contemporary artworks that utilized diverse materials and techniques. The research aims to reveal the role of materials not only as technical mediums but also as expressive elements carrying cultural connotations linked to the environment and heritage. The study employs a descriptive, analytical, and comparative approach, analyzing four artworks and focusing on the type of material, its application, and its relationship to cultural content. The results demonstrate that the diversity of materials (such as wood, metals, and composite materials) reflects the diversity of cultural environments and contributes to highlighting local identity. The research also shows that materials play a significant role in constructing artistic compositions and imbuing works with aesthetic and symbolic dimensions. Rich materials are associated with accumulated cultural heritage, while simple materials express the popular environment. Wood reflects traditional crafts, and metal highlights a primitive and primal character. The research concluded that contemporary artists have achieved a balance between authenticity and modernity by repurposing traditional materials using modern techniques, thus contributing to the preservation of cultural identity and presenting it with a renewed artistic vision.
