Study of some characteristics of groundwater in the Qasr Libya region (Kashano – Jarjar Amma) and its impact on agriculture and seawater intrusion
Abstract
The study aimed to identify the effect of certain elements on groundwater characteristics and their compliance with the 1992 Libyan water standards and the 2008 international standards for agricultural and drinking water in the Qasr Libya region. The results showed that the pH of all wells was within the permissible limits, except for the well (10) in the Kashano area. As for calcium results in the Kashano and Jirjar Amma areas, all wells were within the permissible limit, as were magnesium results for all wells in the Kashano area except for well (11). In the Jirjar Amma area, wells (6-7-8) exceeded The sodium results indicated that all wells in both areas were within the permissible limit, except for wells (6-7-8) in the Jerjar Amma area. The potassium results indicated that all wells in both the Kashano and Jerjar Amma areas were within the normal limit, except for well (6) in the Jerjar Amma area. As for the nitrate results, all wells in the Kashano area were within the permissible limit, except for well (12), and in the Jerjar Amma area, all wells were within the normal limit, except for well (5) for the summer season, which exceeded the permissible limit
