Abstract

The present study aimed to identify the level of health adjustment among secondary school students in the city of Misrata and to examine its relationship with the working methods of educational institutions. To achieve the objectives of the study, the Health Adjustment Scale developed by Muqbil and the Educational Institution Working Methods Scale developed by the researcher were administered. After establishing the validity and reliability of both instruments, they were applied to a sample of 200 male and female secondary school students in Misrata. The findings of the study revealed the following: 1. A statistically significant relationship was found between the sub-dimensions of health adjustment and the sub-dimensions of educational institution working methods, as well as between the overall score of health adjustment and the overall score of educational institution working methods 2. Statistically significant differences were found between male and female students in health adjustment, both in its various dimensions and in the overall score, in favor of male students 3. Statistically significant differences were found between students in the scientific and literary streams regarding health adjustment, both in its various dimensions and in the overall score, in favor of students in the scientific stream. In light of these findings, the researcher recommends organizing awareness lectures and guidance workshops aimed at promoting healthy behaviors among students and enhancing the role of psychological and social counselors within educational institutions. The study also recommends conducting similar research on other educational stages and in different Libyan cities. Furthermore, the researcher suggests carrying out comparative studies between public and private schools to examine differences in students’ levels of health adjustment.
